Paradise Engineering will land on May 14, with “Paradise Engineering” streaming in full below. Having studied Galaxian (1979) and its imitators from the following year, lets look in detail at the culmination of the Galaxian design model, Galaga (1981). Previous releases have come from the likes of Children of Leir, Morah, and Umwelt. It was published by Namco in Japan and imported to North America by Midway that December. A number of artists have shown that the two are often inseparable, but none have done so as idiosyncratically as Galaxian. Galaxian () is an Arcade game that was developed by Namco and released in October 1979. Now a 3D polygonal Rail Shooter similar to Star Blade, the game allowed for 28 players sitting in 2 levels surrounded by a massive 360 degree screen powered by 16 projectors. The label’s name refers to the reactionary post-WW1 art movement, Return to Order, which called for a rejection of the avant-garde in favour of conservatism and classicism. One of the conversations that has defined 2017 has been the degree to which dance music and politics should mix. A sequel named Galaxian 3 (also known as Galaxian 3: Project Dragoon) was released as an attraction that ran in Namco's Wonder Eggs theme park in Tokyo from 1990 to 2000.
